This was my first encounter with a river gull. While I was terribly excited about the prospect of clicking a gull so close, the gull displayed the poise and élan of a gull used to seeing tourists terribly excited about the prospect of clicking a gull so close. It did get a little curious about my camera, though in hindsight it was probably enquiring about its firmware version.
